Sugar Buyers, Producers, Processors and Distributors Gather to Discuss the Current State of U.S. and World Sugar Markets
Washington, D.C. (February 23, 2026) — The International Sweetener Colloquium, co‑hosted by the Sweetener Users Association (SUA) and the International Dairy Foods Association, kicked off today, convening key players from across the sweetener industry — including sugar buyers, producers, processors and distributors — to discuss the current state-of-play in the U.S. and world sugar markets.
Day One began with a keynote address from Chris Cuddy, senior vice president and global president of ADM’s Carbohydrate Solutions business unit, who offered insights on the opportunities and challenges in the U.S. food and agriculture sector.
The sessions that followed on this Day One of programming included an overview of international sugar market dynamics and a discussion of the North American sweetener market outlook. Panel presentations featured a range of expert speakers who examined the key issues facing the global sweetener industry and shared forecasts for what’s to come in the market.
“This International Sweetener Colloquium continues to be a linchpin opportunity for industry leaders to come together, hear from experts and engage in meaningful dialogue on the issues affecting their businesses,” said Rick Pasco, President of the Sweetener Users Association. “With so much uncertainty in the U.S. and global sugar markets, now is a critical time for stakeholders from across the sweetener supply chain to convene.”
Today’s discussions helped set the stage for even more in‑depth programming to come, with future sessions set to cover topics including U.S. sugar program administration and policy challenges, as well as trade policy and tariffs. Programming will continue through Wednesday, February 25 and feature a diverse lineup of speakers addressing a wide range of topics relevant to the global sweetener industry.
