Below is a sugar-containing products (SCP) report that summarizes the data for the 2019/20 marketing year as follows:

“The volume of sugar in imported SCPs is up again through the fourth quarter of 2019/20. Imports of SCPs for the marketing year hit an all-time high of 1,938,899 strv, a 1.3% increase over 2018/19.”

“Exports of sugar in SCPs are down through the fourth quarter of 2019/20, ending the year down 6.1% …”

“Net imports of sugar in products once again exceeded one million tons this marketing year.”  “Net imports of sugar in products through the fourth quarter of 2019/20 totaled 1,170,863 strv, up 75,291 strv or 6.9% over 2018/19.”

“This sugar represent additional domestic consumption on top of what is shown in USDA’s formal supply-demand balance.”

“Net imports of sugar in SCP’s from Canada in 2019/20 were up 5.5% … compared to 2018/19,” while net imports from Mexico were down 1.9% and net imports from the rest of the world were up 21%.
