The American Sugar Coalition filed the below brief with Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in opposition to the CSC proposal “to change the definition of” raw sugar from Mexico to “a polarity less than 99.5.”
The current suspension agreement defines raw sugar from Mexico at “a polarity less than 99.2.”
The brief states that in the alternative, CSC proposes that Commerce “should create a special rule allowing CSC to buy sugar [from Mexico] with a polarity less than 99.5 at the lower [raw sugar] reference price for a period of 5 years.”
