Summary of Comments on Proposed Rule – Bioengineered Foods List

On July 24, 2020, the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) requested comments on adding several products to the Bioengineered (BE) Foods List, including BE sugarcane. SUA filed comments opposing such a listing at this time.

To date, AMS has taken no further action on its request for comments. It is important to note that, should AMS decide that BE sugarcane should be listed, the agency would need to initiate a separate rule-making process, with an additional comment period.
